1PoundBid started with a simple thought: why isn't there an awards show for the folks who make saving a fiver feel like winning the lottery? Wellington, markets, charity shops, online auctions – the UK is a treasure trove of keen deals and clever sellers.

We wanted to bottle that joy, that buzz you get when you snap up a cracking bargain, and shine a light on the people who make it possible. So we banged our heads together and came up with the 1PoundBid Awards.

From the start we swore two things: no entry fees and no pay-to-play. Winners are chosen by a panel of judges and public votes, so the only thing that counts is being brilliant at what you do. We're independent, impartial, and just a bit passionate about penny-pinching done right.
